Police Foil Car Theft Attempt – Two Suspects Detained in Vilnius

Police officers in Vilnius have detained two individuals suspected of stealing a Lexus vehicle — a young woman and a man were caught thanks to close cooperation between criminal investigators from Kaunas and Vilnius. Both suspects have been formally charged, and preventive measures have been imposed: one has been remanded in custody for two months, while the other is under intensive supervision.

At the end of August this year, officers from the 3rd Division of the Criminal Police Property Crime Investigation Board of the Kaunas County Police Headquarters received information about a planned theft of a Lexus car in Vilnius.

Kaunas investigators swiftly shared this intelligence with their colleagues at the 3rd Division of the Criminal Police Property Crime Investigation Board of the Vilnius County Police Headquarters. Their close cooperation, along with meticulous and coordinated efforts, led to the rapid identification and detention of the suspects.

Two individuals — a young woman (born in 2003) and a man (born in 1988) — were detained in Vilnius in connection with the theft of the Lexus vehicle. During the pre-trial investigation, both were questioned and formally charged with committing a criminal offense.

By court order, one of the suspects has been placed in pre-trial detention for two months, while the other remains under intensive supervision.

The pre-trial investigation is being organized and supervised by a prosecutor from the 1st Division of the Vilnius District Prosecutor’s Office of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
