The work of officers: constant risk and dangerous situations (video)

Police officers respond to a wide range of calls every day, but they never know what situation awaits them when they arrive at the scene. Even a call for help can instantly become dangerous and unpredictable, posing a threat to the officers' health or even their lives.

Yesterday at around 6:36 PM, the Emergency Response Center alerted the Vilnius County Police Headquarters that a man in the village of Pastrėvis, Elektrėnai municipality, was reportedly armed and intending to commit suicide. After making the report, the individual disconnected the call. 

Upon arriving at the specified location, officers encountered a man (born in 1987) with a blood alcohol level of 0.285%. In the courtyard of a residential house, he aimed a “Bersa Thunder 9 Pro” pistol at the Elektrėnai Police Commissariat officers and held them at gunpoint until they disarmed him.

A pre-trial investigation into the incident has been launched pursuant to Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania.

Police remind citizens that resisting a statutory civil servant, making threats, or using violence against officers is a criminal offense. Such actions are punishable by a fine, restriction of liberty, arrest, or imprisonment for up to three years. From January to April this year, 31 pre-trial investigations were opened in Lithuania for resisting officers, while a total of 91 were recorded throughout the entire year of 2025. The police urge citizens to respect the work of officers and remind them that aggressive actions against officers result in criminal liability.
