Together with the municipality – for a safer Vilnius District

On February 11, a meeting was held at Vilnius County Police Headquarters with Vilnius District Municipality Mayor Robert Duchnevič and representatives of the municipal administration. Together with Daiva Britovienė, Head of the Vilnius District Police Commissariat, the possibilities of implementing a centralized video surveillance camera system in Vilnius District were discussed.

A centralized system would make it possible to ensure public order more effectively, respond to incidents more promptly, and manage available data in a unified manner in cooperation with the local government. The greatest attention was devoted to the most problematic areas – transport hubs and stops, retail and service areas, public spaces, access points to educational institutions, as well as locations near waste containers.

During the meeting, a preliminary map of possible camera locations was presented, prepared taking into account the existing network and the practical experience of officers. Modern video surveillance technologies make it possible not only to record violations, but also to search for vehicles, analyze traffic flows, and help prevent potential legal offenses. “Such a system is not merely passive storage of recordings – it enables a rapid and coordinated response, ensuring the safety of residents throughout the district,” says Vytautas Vansavičius, Director of the Administration of Vilnius District Municipality.

Vilnius County Police will continue to cooperate with municipalities and partners in order to strengthen prevention and ensure the safety of residents throughout Vilnius District.
