Joint Efforts Lead to the Safe Recovery of Missing Man
On 23 August, the Vilnius County Police received a report concerning a man (born in 2003) who had left his home and failed to return. A pre-trial investigation into the disappearance was subsequently launched at the Šalčininkai District Police Office of the Vilnius County Police Headquarters.
Officers of the Šalčininkai District Police Office immediately launched a search for the missing man. They checked possible locations where he might have been, gathered relevant information, spoke with local residents, and sought to establish his possible movements and routes.
Local residents also contributed to the search by providing officers with valuable information. Police officers conducted an aerial search using drones, assisted by a volunteer drone specialist.
The joint efforts ultimately led to a successful outcome. At approximately 14:40 on 27 August, officers of the Šalčininkai District Police Office, together with volunteers, located the missing man using drones in the vicinity of the village of Parudaminys, in an area of dense shrubland within open fields. The man was found in a weakened condition and was disoriented. His life and health were in imminent danger. Most importantly, he was found alive and was promptly handed over to medical personnel for further care.
This search once again highlighted the vital importance of a swift response by police officers, active community involvement, and coordinated efforts in the search for a missing person.
