Holiday Season Attracts Pickpockets: Police Urge Residents to Protect Their Belongings

As the holiday season approaches, Vilnius is filled with visitors, and the city’s streets, fairs, and marketplaces grow more crowded. Unfortunately, this also brings an increase in pickpocket activity.

Police remind everyone to:

• Protect your handbags, backpacks, and phones, and keep them in a closed pocket or close to your body.
• Avoid carrying all your payment cards or large amounts of cash—take only what you really need.
• Keep your wallet, documents, and keys in separate places—this helps reduce your losses if you do become a victim of theft.
• Stay alert in shopping areas, at holiday events, and on public transport, and if you notice any suspicious behaviour, report it immediately by calling the emergency number 112.
